WHY THIS DEDICATION SERVICE?

1 Samuel 1:24-28 / Mark 10:14 / Luke 2:21-40

Parent/ Child Dedication services should not be confused with infant baptism. This is not a baby baptism that indicates or assures salvation. It does not make a child a Christian. Every person must exercise personal faith in Christ when they are old enough to understand the Gospel.

In the story of Hannah and Samuel above, we see the practice of dedicating the lives of children to serve the Lord.

A dedication service is more of a spiritual commitment on the part of the parent(s) to provide a Christian environment in which a child can easily come to Christ. This involves praying for the child, teaching him/her God's Word and setting a Christian example.

We will be setting aside time for dedications during each service on Mother's Day and Father's Day.
